Why We Don’t Include Lunch, Unlimited Flies, or Full Equipment by Default

Guests often ask why certain things aren’t automatically included in our guided trips. The reason is simple: we keep our pricing fair and accessible. Add-ons like meals, unlimited flies, or full equipment sound small, but they create large and unpredictable costs that would raise the base price for everyone — even when most guests don’t need them.

Meals
Providing lunch requires the guide to shop, prepare food, and transport it. Guests end up paying more for that service than if they simply buy something themselves, which our guides can typically help facilitate. Obviously, our guides want to make sure that you stay in touch with food so you can enjoy your trip and fish without distraction.
Exception: In Finland, guests who also book accommodation with Ville receive a hot field-cooked lunch included. That works only because the guiding and accommodation are bundled locally.

Flies
Some guiding companies include unlimited flies because their base prices are already set high enough to absorb the cost. We prefer a more transparent model: keep the base price low and only charge for what you actually use.
We include one fly per guest per day. If you need more, you’re welcome to take flies from the guide’s box à la carte and settle the tab after the trip. Prices are listed clearly on each booking page.

Equipment
Our guides always bring their own gear, so we can usually outfit at least one guest with a rod if needed. Exception: In Norway, we can usually outfit up to 4 guests fully with rods, reels, and lines — thanks to the gear our team keeps on hand there.

Waders, however, aren’t feasible to provide due to sizing, transport, and hygiene constraints. Each service page specifies exactly what equipment can be loaned at that destination.

Our goal is straightforward: deliver an outstanding fly fishing experience without making guests pay for extras they may not want or need. This keeps trips accessible while staying fair for both guests and guides.
